Recently, Tun Chang County’s first rubber deep-processing project—the Yifeng Latex Silk Factory—has been completed and put into operation in Nankun Town. At the same time, construction of Phase I of the Wanxiang Natural Rubber Project in Tun Chang is accelerating, marking the county’s establishment of a comprehensive industrial chain that encompasses latex, rubber products, and… Rubberwood By leveraging an integrated, diversified processing system, a new pathway has been forged—shifting from the export of raw rubber materials to the manufacture of finished products.

“Once fully operational, the facility will be capable of producing over 20,000 tons of high‑grade latex yarn annually, primarily supplying the textile and consumer goods sectors in the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta regions,” said the project leader of the Yifeng Latex Yarn initiative. Currently, contracts have been signed with numerous out‑of‑province clients, and a batch of general workers is being urgently recruited and trained to begin work, accelerating capacity expansion and enabling overtime production to deliver products meeting established standards. According to reports, Tun Chang County now boasts a rubber plantation area of 485,800 mu, with a rubberwood stock volume of 3.6945 million cubic meters, ensuring ample reserves of raw rubber materials. In addition to the aforementioned latex‑processing enterprises, wood‑processing projects such as Fucheng Industrial and Junjian Industrial are steadily increasing their production capacity, laying a solid foundation for industrial transformation and upgrading.

Since last year, Tun Chang has continuously deepened its county-level cooperation mechanism with Mayang County in Hunan Province, bringing the first phase of the Wanxiang Natural Rubber Project to construction in Tun Chang. The region has also pioneered a “processing in Tun Chang, R&D in Mayang” out‑of‑area economic model, leveraging industrial synergy and complementary resource allocation to drive industrial upgrading. By capitalizing on the free‑trade port’s policy benefits—namely, duty‑free processing and value‑added incentives—the local authorities are supporting enterprises in importing raw materials such as natural rubber latex for advanced downstream processing, striving to unlock the full industrial potential of each rubber tree.

According to a responsible official from the Tunchang County Bureau of Science, Industry and Information Technology, the county is pursuing a dual‑pronged strategy of unlocking the potential of existing enterprises while extending the industrial chain through new investments. Leveraging its leading rubber‑industry players, the county is planning to develop high‑end latex products, wet‑process mixed‑rubber compounds, and high‑value utilization projects for rubberwood, thereby establishing seamless linkages between the rubber sector and the green, low‑carbon, circular‑economy industrial zone. By integrating by‑products such as rubber sludge, waste rubber, and wood chips into the park’s circular system on site, the county aims to turn “waste from one plant into raw material for multiple others.” At the same time, focusing on key segments—including dry rubber, latex products, and rubber tires—the county is precisely attracting leading firms and supporting suppliers, fostering resource‑recovery initiatives like recycled rubber and rubber‑based innovative building materials, and continuously extending the rubber industry chain to create win‑win outcomes for both upstream and downstream enterprises.
