The “Evaluation Standard for Zero-Carbon Factories in the Wood Processing Industry” has passed the project approval review.

Recently, the project initiation review meeting for the “Zero-Carbon Factory Evaluation Standard for the Wood Processing Industry” (hereinafter referred to as the “Standard”), spearheaded by the First Division of Ecological Industry Planning of our institute, was held at the Forest Products Industry Association, marking a significant milestone in the standard’s development.

At the review meeting, the expert panel heard a briefing from the drafting group on the background of the project’s initiation, the objectives of its development, the technical approach, and the core content. The panel then conducted a comprehensive review of the draft standard and engaged in questioning and discussion around key issues. The experts unanimously agreed that the standard is closely aligned with the production and operational characteristics of the wood-processing industry and with the requirements for carbon‑emission management. Upon completion, it will establish a scientific, systematic, industry‑specific, and practically feasible evaluation framework for zero‑carbon factories, clearly defining evaluation dimensions, grading criteria, accounting rules, and assessment procedures, thereby filling the gap in standardized evaluation of zero‑carbon factories within China’s wood-processing sector.

The expert panel stated that the Standard is clearly oriented and systematically comprehensive, aligning with the national “dual carbon” strategic framework and the wood-processing industry’s need for a green, low‑carbon transformation. It plays a crucial role in standardizing the development of zero‑carbon factories and guiding the sector’s low‑carbon upgrading. The panel unanimously approved the Standard’s project proposal and recommended that the drafting team refine the subsequent work based on the experts’ feedback, thereby facilitating the early promulgation and implementation of the Standard.
