On the afternoon of December 31, 2025, Guigang City held a press conference in the urban area to announce the high-quality development of Guigang’s wood and furniture industry cluster. At the conference, key initiatives undertaken by Guigang City to promote the development of the wood and furniture industry were introduced, covering policy guidance, complementary infrastructure improvements, and brand enhancement. In addition, the conference addressed questions related to the application of artificial intelligence in the wood industry, the development of the panel furniture industry, and the effectiveness of Guigang’s participation in the World Forestry Congress. Officials from relevant departments of the Guigang Municipal Forestry Bureau attended the meeting and answered questions from reporters.
After more than 20 years of development, the timber industry in Guigang has become the city’s largest industrial sector. From January to November 2025, our city added 104 large-scale enterprises, ranking first in Guangxi. Among these, 66 were wood-processing enterprises, accounting for 63.5%. The total output value of large-scale wood-processing enterprises reached 51.104 billion yuan, an increase of 6.5% year-on-year, contributing 2.6 percentage points to the growth of the city’s overall large-scale industrial output value and serving as a key pillar supporting stable industrial growth. Currently, there are 715 large-scale enterprises in the city, representing about 56% of all large-scale enterprises in the city and over 30% of the total in Guangxi Province, as well as roughly 10% of the national total. Annual production of man-made boards exceeds 24 million cubic meters, accounting for one-third of Guangxi’s annual output of such boards. For many years, the output value of Guigang’s timber-processing industry has consistently ranked first in Guangxi, earning it the well-deserved title of “China’s Southern Board Capital.”
Strengthen policy guidance and optimize the business environment.
Our city has successively introduced a series of policy plans, including the “Three-Year Action Plan for High-Quality Development of the Modern Forestry Industry in Guigang City,” the “Five-Year Action Plan for Promoting the Development of the Wood Industry in Guigang City,” and the “14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Wood Processing Industry in Guigang City.” We are now preparing the “15th Five-Year Plan for Forestry Development in Guigang City,” which will provide policy guidance and support for the planning and development of the wood industry. We are placing particular emphasis on the construction of key industrial parks to leverage agglomeration effects. We are making every effort to build a “hundred-billion-yuan-level green smart home and high-end panel industry cluster.” Currently, Guigang City has established seven specialized forestry industrial parks with a total area exceeding 100,000 mu. Among these, the Guigang Green Home Industry Park and the Qintang Green Home Industry Park have been recognized by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration as national-level forestry industry demonstration parks—there are only 75 such parks nationwide, and just 6 in Guangxi Province. We are innovating government services and optimizing the business environment. We continue to refine mechanisms for precisely matching services with enterprises, promoting “motherly-style” services, and striving to build a service system that covers the entire chain, the full lifecycle, and all aspects of enterprise needs. For example, we have established and strengthened Party committees within the wood industry’s industrial chain. Through establishing a closed-loop management mechanism featuring “enterprise order placement—Party committee assignment—liaison office supervision—feedback and evaluation,” as well as setting up practical platforms for “government-bank-enterprise-research” exchanges, we are accurately identifying and targetedly addressing the difficulties and pain points faced by enterprises, thereby creating a business environment characterized by superior policies, better services, and greater vitality. We are also innovating and optimizing administrative approval procedures, providing support for agency services, effectively shortening the time required for enterprises to start operations and achieve production, and promoting both increased output and improved product quality.
Improve supporting services and promote the development of the entire industrial chain.
Focusing on strengthening leading enterprises, complementing industrial chains, and clustering industries, we will support large-scale enterprises with long industrial chains and promising market prospects to grow stronger. We will attract leading companies in the decorative paper industry, such as Qifeng, Jia Shijia, and Zhisheng Wood Industry, to build the most comprehensive veneer paper industrial chain in South China, extend downstream terminal products, and effectively enhance product added value. We will also promote scientific and technological innovation by establishing the Municipal Wood Industry Research Institute and specialized laboratories for forest product testing and R&D—such as the Guixincheng Testing Center and the China-ASEAN (Qintang) Smart Green Home Appliance Inspection Center—to reduce enterprises’ testing costs and drive innovative development in the wood industry.
Enhance brand influence and accelerate intelligent transformation.
Precisely carry out “going global and inviting in” industrial activities by organizing enterprises to “go global” and participate in construction expos held in Wuhan, Changsha, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and other cities. Additionally, host multiple production-sales matchmaking events in Guigang, actively expanding sales channels and enhancing brand influence and awareness. At the same time, plan to participate in the World Forestry Industry Conference (Nanning), proactively building our city’s regional brand and establishing Guigang’s reputation as the “Capital of Southern China’s Wood Panels,” thereby strongly supporting Guigang’s drive toward becoming the “Southern Wood Capital.” Promote international trade cooperation by collaborating with departments such as commerce and customs, vigorously advancing cross-border e-commerce, and leveraging the Xijiang Golden Waterway to establish a logistics network centered on Guigang Port. This will help enterprises tap into overseas markets and bring Guigang’s wood panels onto the international stage, particularly targeting the Middle East and ASEAN regions. By harnessing digital and intelligent development and utilizing various online and offline trading platforms, we will further enhance Guigang’s competitiveness. Timber market Its international influence is promoting industrial transformation and upgrading—for example, Jianxin Wood Industry has shifted from producing low-end... Packaging board Gradually upgrade to multiple layers. Eco-board 、 Furniture board Hanbang Wood Industry, Boyite Home, and Bixiu Furniture have introduced Industry 4.0 fully automated production lines to accelerate their smart transformation.
Next, our city’s timber industry will strive for major breakthroughs in attracting investment, new breakthroughs in fostering leading enterprises, high-quality breakthroughs in providing convenient services for both residents and businesses, and significant breakthroughs in project applications.
Q&A with reporters:
During the Q&A session, officials from relevant departments provided detailed answers to questions on topics including the application of artificial intelligence in the wood industry, how our city should further develop the panel furniture industry, and the activities our city will participate in at the 2025 World Forestry Congress, as well as the outcomes achieved.
