On September 16, a train fully loaded with Southeast Asian Rubberwood Russia Pine wood The China-Europe freight train slowly rolled into Ganzhou International Land Port.
This batch of timber, transported from afar, will swiftly be moved to various furniture factories in Nankang District, Ganzhou City. After meticulous processing into high-quality furniture, it will once again set off—this time via a seamless logistics network—to reach markets around the globe.
As the "Capital of China's Solid Wood Furniture," Nankang has attracted more than 8,000 furniture enterprises and employs nearly 500,000 people, with an annual demand for imported wood materials exceeding 10 million cubic meters. Yet, challenges such as "difficult and expensive wood imports" once posed significant constraints on the industry's expansion. In 2014, to overcome this critical development hurdle, Ganzhou International Land Port was established—since then, it has become the "bridgehead" connecting Nankang's furniture industry to the global market.

"Foreign trade enterprises often face the challenge of coordinating with multiple suppliers and service providers when exporting goods. To ease this burden and reduce overall costs for businesses, we’ve launched a comprehensive 'turnkey logistics supply chain service' model," introduced Xiao Ronghui, General Manager of Ganzhou Lugang International Logistics Service Co., Ltd. He added that Lugang is actively integrating resources from coastal ports, freight forwarding companies, shipping agents, customs brokers, and other key players, creating an end-to-end service system that covers every aspect of logistics—ranging from transportation and ocean freight booking to warehousing management and financial settlement. This tailored, "one-on-one" approach ensures that each import-export enterprise receives a customized, full-service logistics solution designed specifically to meet their unique needs."
Jiangxi Fulong Crown Industrial Co., Ltd., as one of the leading furniture enterprises in Nankang, is a direct beneficiary of this service model. Lai Fuxiang, Director of the company’s Human Resources Department, stated: "By leveraging the platform provided by Ganzhou International Land Port, we’ve significantly reduced the costs of importing raw materials such as timber and adhesives. Previously, exporting our goods required us to travel outside the province to handle the necessary procedures—but now, we can complete everything right at our doorstep. This has dramatically improved our operational efficiency and given our company greater confidence as we expand into international markets."
In terms of reducing logistics costs and improving delivery efficiency, the advantages of rail transportation stand out particularly. "Compared to road transport, rail transport excels in terms of cost, timeliness, and reliability," said Xiao Ronghui. "By shifting to the 'road-to-rail' transportation model, companies can cut logistics costs by approximately 30% and reduce time-related expenses by about 40%."

Not only that, Ganzhou International Land Port has also proactively integrated itself into the broader regional development strategy, actively promoting deep connectivity between the southern Jiangxi revolutionary base area and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In collaboration with Shenzhen Yantian Port and the railway authorities, the port has launched the "Rongwan" Ganzhou-Shenzhen intercity high-speed freight train service, utilizing specialized double-decker flatcars. Each train consists of a fixed 35-carriage configuration, enabling direct transportation without intermediate reorganization or stops, thereby significantly reducing travel time between the two regions—from the original 12 hours down to just 6 hours.
"When the port was first established, import business accounted for 90% of its activities; today, the ratio of imports to exports has nearly reached equilibrium," said Xiao Ronghui. He added that the goods transported by the Ganzhou International Land Port's freight trains are becoming increasingly diverse, while the network of routes continues to expand. As a result, Ganzhou’s unique southern Jiangxi specialties—such as navel oranges, fiberglass fabrics, helmets, and personal care products—are steadily making their way overseas, reaching markets around the globe.
Currently, Ganzhou International Land Port has cumulatively operated over 1,500 China-Europe (Asia) freight trains, while its iron-sea intermodal "Three Together" trains and domestic trade freight trains have surpassed 19,000 trips. This has successfully established a new Central China Land-Sea Passage, seamlessly connecting inland regions with coastal areas and linking domestic markets to the global stage. Thanks to this corridor, Nankang furniture is now reaching markets worldwide—and more importantly, it’s strengthening the Central Region’s ability to firmly integrate into the global marketplace.
