The Industry Research Department of the China Building Materials Circulation Association interpreted this week's BHI data, stating that with the arrival of "Golden September and Silver October," China's building materials and home furnishing market has entered its traditional peak season, leading to a rebound in the BHI compared to the previous month. In September, temperatures became more comfortable, local governments adjusted and updated their trade-in subsidy policies, while the holiday consumption boost from both the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day began to materialize earlier than expected. As a result, consumers' willingness to spend on building materials and home furnishings continued to strengthen, effectively boosting market demand. Consequently, sales at large-scale building materials and home furnishing stores surged by 23.84% month-on-month in September, meeting expectations.

Looking at the performance of BHI's sub-indices, while the overall BHI index continued its recovery this month, the "Manager Confidence Index" dropped by 3.83 points month-on-month, falling to 159.64. However, with an absolute value of 57.87—above 50, indicating optimism about future market conditions, and below 50 suggesting caution—the index remains firmly in the "optimistic outlook" range. Although this leading indicator edged down slightly compared to the previous month, the underlying sentiment of being "bullish on the market" has not changed. This reflects that businesses have built up considerable resilience and continue to remain confident in the industry's long-term growth prospects.

This month, the sub-index with the highest month-on-month increase was the "Sales Capability Index." As September marked the peak season for building materials and home furnishings consumption, coupled with the continued positive impact of the trade-in policy for consumer goods, most companies launched a wide range of promotional activities. This created a dual incentive model—combining "government subsidies" with "corporate discounts"—effectively boosting consumer spending. As a result, both foot traffic and sales at key national building materials and home furnishing retail outlets saw noticeable growth.

On September 24, six departments—including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Natural Resources—jointly issued the "Work Plan for Steady Growth in the Building Materials Industry (2025–2026)," marking a shift in industry policy from "preserving scale" to "enhancing quality." By adopting a multi-pronged approach that includes capacity regulation, technological innovation, green transformation, and demand expansion, the plan outlines a clear path for the building materials sector to transition seamlessly from "traditional building materials" to a thriving "new materials industry." Meanwhile, the Industry Research Department of the China Association of Building Materials Circulation recommends that companies seize this favorable policy window to accelerate structural adjustments and drive technological innovation, ensuring they gain a competitive edge in the upcoming wave of industrial transformation.
